On behalf of our client, Headway Workforce Solutions is currently seeking Part-Time Data Collectors to work on a research project. Data Collectors will work with 1st grade students in various schools in Kenai Peninsula Borough School District to assess students’ reading abilities. Data collectors will also do classroom observations of reading instruction. Though most of the data collection is done in person, some schools may allow virtual visits. Data collection will take place during 2024-2025 school year.

Most hours are clustered at the beginning (fall) and end (spring) of each school year. Classroom observations can happen in the middle of the school year.

Survey administrators are expected to work approximately 10-20 hours per week in the Fall and Spring, with flexibility. This position will require traveling between schools in Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.The approximate geographical region covered by this position is Ninilchik to Homer. There may also be opportunities to travel farther within the peninsula.
All mileage will be reimbursed at the government rate. For distance trips, all travel expenses will be paid. The pay rate starts at $20.00 per hour.

Requirements of a Part-Data Collector
  • Must be able to work weekdays during school hours
  • Able to work 10-20 hours per week during Fall and Spring
  • Able to travel to schools across Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (travel expenses will be reimbursed)
  • Comfortable working in a school setting
  • Able to adhere to rigorous assessment and observation protocols
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Motivated, self-starter, comfortable working independently and on a team
  • Exceptional time-management, organizational and record keeping skills required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Successfully complete mandatory paid, virtual training in early-mid August (dates TBD)
  • Have a valid driver’s license, dependable car, and proof of auto insurance

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or related professional experience is preferred, but not required

Continued employment eligibility is contingent upon successful completion of mandatory training, verified reference checks, a DMV background check, and criminal background check including Megan’s Law.

The physical demands to be described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully:

  • Travel frequently to assigned locations
  • Be outside and exposed to all types of weather
  • Be exposed to fumes and odors as might be expected in any outdoor/indoor environment
  • Stand, walk and climb stairs
  • Communicate through speech and listening
  • Read text verbatim from a tablet or computer screen
  • Transport a laptop and tablet, and materials weighing approximately 12 pounds
  • Transport materials up flights of stairs
